I had this really strange dream where it was my wedding day and I was marrying the guy I am currently seeing. While we were saying our vows he turned into a mouse or a rat. I don’t understand what this could of meant?

I think I am falling in love with him and is this some sort of warning?

--Arianna, Age 18, in a relationship, Lockhaven, PA, USA

Hi Arianna -

It’s a little quick for the wedding bells, don’t you think? You’re not even sure you’re in love yet - but you’re thinking of getting married?

As for your dream, you have to answer this question: What do you associate mice and rats with?

a.) Do they remind you of cute “mousey-haired” guys that you’d like to share some wine and cheese with?

Or...

b.) Do they make you want to scream and drop everything - and run for your life?

If it’s Mickey Mouse to the rescue - this guy might be your man. If it’s time to call the exterminator - this dream may be warning you about getting your hopes up too much. It’s possible you think this guy might turn out to be a “rat”—someone who would betray a friend or committment.

Just to make love all the more confusing, it’s possible this dream also reflects your own fears of being betrayed or double-crossed. In which case you have “projected” your fears for the future upon him - without him having done anything wrong yet.

So which is it?

1.) Are you nervous and having doubts?

2.) Is he really a rat?

3.) Or is he just mousey-haired?

We hope he’s mousey-haired, and that you two are eating wine and cheese soon. (Make sure he leaves his “rat-pack” days behind!)
