Recently we had to put my dog to sleep. I was really close to her and I miss her a lot. Anyway I was crying really hard and I couldn’t stop. My crush walked over to me, put his hand on my back and asked me what was wrong. I couldn’t answer him but I was trying so hard to. Whenever I opened my mouth another sob came out. So he pulled me to my feet, wrapped his arms around me and hugged me until I stopped crying. His shirt was soaked from my tears and he didn’t even care. He just looked me in the eye and said do you want me to stay with you? So he stayed with me all day. I felt a lot better.

What does this all mean? Is someone up there trying to tell me about my crush? Is it possible that he could like me too? Or is this dream just wishful thinking? Please help me dream doctor!

- Angie, Age 15, USA

Hi Angie -

I’m sorry to hear about your dog having to be put to sleep. Sometimes animals can be our best friends - and it’s hard to leave them behind.

I do think your dream is telling you something about your crush. In the dream he appears as a nice guy who is sensitive to your feelings and who supports and takes care of you. Not bad, eh? And he makes you feel better in the dream, which is a very good sign. When you’re with someone you really like, you’re usually just happy being around them - no matter what you’re doing. You can be doing homework or errands or watching TV or washing the dishes - and still be having a good time. In fact, it’s relationships that are the other way around - always difficult, always fighting, always insecure, always unsure, always not knowing - that are the ones to watch out for. If a relationship feels like you’re pushing a heavy load up a long, steep hill - there are probably lots of good reasons why you should call it quits.

Why don’t you tell your crush about your dream - just like you told us? It’s a no-pressure way of telling him that you like him and think he’s a good guy - because he wouldn’t have appeared that way in your dream if you didn’t think those things were true about him. Then ask him if he’d ever like to do something with you - go to a movie, go ice skating or bowling - or maybe just go out for coffee or tea. I bet you three free dream interpretations he says yes!!
