If you are not pregnant, giving birth in a dream is often a metaphor for bringing to life a goal (ranging from a new career to a romantic relationship) or project in your waking life, which can range from remodeling a kitchen to writing a song. If you are stuck in labor in your dream, think about the goal you’re laboring to achieve. If your baby is stillborn or has birth defects, think about goals or romantic relationships that you held high hopes for but which now seem to be dead or diseased. Dreams of miscarriage reflect doubts about a developing project or relationship. Dreams of a premature birth reflect concerns that the "baby" will come too soon and you won't be prepared. Dreams of dying during birth symbolize an inner metamorphosis and an evolution of development; old ways of perceiving are passing away; new self-discoveries are being made.
