Turtle

Turtles in dreams are symbols of fertility and motherhood, due to the shape of the turtle's shell (womb) that contains life inside. Turtles are common symbols in the dreams of woman who are expecting or actively trying to conceive. Turtles that "snap" at the dreamer or who otherwise are aggressive reflect fears of emotional injury on the road to motherhood. Smashed or injured turtles reflect feelings of disappointment, or doubts that conception will occur.  Turtles can also be symbolic of people who have a tough exterior and/or retreat inside their "shell."
