Sun

Cosmic symbol, often holding supreme spiritual stature, as in God, the universe, or heaven. Sunlight is a metaphor for vision, for the ability to “see one’s direction” clearly. Sunrises are associated with new beginnings and with hopes for the future. Sunsets represent closure of a period or phase in one’s life (the end of a relationship, the end of our college years, etc.), and feelings of uncertainty about the future. Sunsets also can represent feelings of decay and declining strength. (The “sunset” of my life.)
