Monster
Monsters are common symbols in children's nightmares, and can be associated with virtually any fear that threatens a child's perceived safety. In mythology monsters are an archetypal theme. The hero must vanquish a monster before he can marry the beautiful princess and achieve psychological completion. In adults, recurring dreams of attack by monsters should alert the adult dreamer of a fear or trauma that continues to lurk inside. For the dreamer to achieve psychological completion and wholeness, the monster must be identified and vanquished.
