Elevator

Common dream metaphor for different levels of awareness in the mind. Also can represent transitions in our careers, lifestyles, or romance. When we enter an elevator, we expect to "arrive at a new level."

Going down in an elevator is a common metaphor for entering into deeper levels of subconscious awareness. Elevators that fall reflect feelings of being out of control, and are related to falling dreams. Elevators that rise uncontrollably, flying through roofs, suggest rising tension and pressure. Elevators that do not deliver us to the correct floor suggest difficulties reaching a goal or destination. Elevators in tall buildings are associated with business and careers.
