Better Sleep for WomenSleepless in America
- Most women get less sleep than they need.
- 74% of women ages 30 to 60 do not sleep eight or more hours per night during the workweek. 16% of women sleep less than six hours per night during the work week.
- The average women sleeps six hours and forty-one minutes during the work week and seven hours and sixteen minutes on the weekends.
- 46% of women compensate for their sleep deficit accrued during the work week by sleeping longer on the weekend, an average of one hour and thirty-four minutes longer.
- Napping is common.
- 39% of women took at least one nap during the past two work weeks; 44% took at least one nap on the weekends.
- Naps average one hour in length.
- More women age 30 to 39 take naps on the weekends (50%) than women 40 to 60 years old (40%).
- Younger women (30 to 39 years old) also nap for a longer period of time than older women (40 to 60 years old), averaging 15 to 20 minutes longer.
