What’s your Snore Score?

Your answers to this sleep quiz will help you decide whether you may suffer from sleep apnea.

1. Are you a loud, habitual snorer?

2. Do you feel groggy and tired upon awakening?

3. Are you often sleepy during waking hours?

4. Are you overweight?

5. Have you been observed to choke, gasp, or hold your breath during sleep?

If you or someone you know answers “yes” to any of the above questions, you should discuss the symptoms with your physician or a sleep specialist. Or contact the American Sleep Apnea Association, 1424 K Street NW, Suite 302, Washington, DC 20005; e-mail asaa@sleepapnea.org, for more information on the diagnosis and treatment of sleep apnea. Different treatment options exist; which one is right for you depends on the severity of your apnea and other aspects of the disorder. Talk to your doctor about your choices.

You may be interested in attending a meeting of an A.W.A.K.E. support group. AWAKE stands for Alert, Well, and Keeping Energetic—which is how you will feel once you get your sleep apnea treated. Ask the American Sleep Apnea Association for information about AWAKE meetings in your area.
